Looking Back on 2019 Part 6 -- The Penultimate Part

Two For The Price Of One.  

While working on a brand new play, I got to participate in another Opera experience.  First things first.

Spokane is home of a wonderful place - The Hutton Settlement, a home for orphaned children. (look it up for more details - https://huttonsettlement.org/)  2019 marked the 100th anniversary of the Settlement, and a local playwright wanted to do something about it.  The result - a 2 Act Play about Levi Hutton and how he was inspired to create the Settlement.  A cast of about 40 worked for 2 months workshopping the play, with the playwright in the director's chair.

During the rehearsal process, I had the chance to be in MADAME BUTTERFLY as a supernumerary.  (I just did it because I like saying "Supernumerary"!)(well, that and they paid me)  The folks at Inland NW Opera were a joy to work with. And we had many an interesting discussion in the Dressing Room about the differences between opera and musical theater.
